The UFFA Annual General meeting 2019
UFFA resolves to professionalize transport & freight logistics.
At their just concluded Annual General Meeting held on the 29th/03/2019, Uganda Freight Forwarders Association resolved to key strategies and policies that will help professionalize the Transport and Freight Logistics industry.
On top of electing new Executive Committee Board members and installing an Advisory Board, UFFA informed its members of the various steps and initiatives undertaken by the Association to professionalize the industry some of which include but not limited to; The FIATA Diploma where over 30 Trainers where prequalified and the curriculum will be ready by 2020, the East African Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate(EACFFPC) program which has so far 1371 graduates. UFFA also does host Annual Logistics Expos and Conventions where best industry practices are shared. At the AGM, it was agreed that UFFA will host this year’s Annual Logistics Expo on the 21st& 22nd August 2019.
Another strategy that is being undertaken by the Association is to domesticate the Self-RegulationBill. It’s believed that this Bill will enhance compliance to rules and regulations in the practice of Freight Logistics, protect the clients, customs Agents and freight forwarders, promote growth and development of the Freight Forwarders industry among others.
Mr. Dicksons Kateshumbwa, the Commissioner Customs Department at Uganda Revenue Authority who was the Guest of Honor at the post AGM dinner recognized and awarded certificates to key outstanding partners of the Association and also encouraged members to fully comply to the regulations to avoid inconveniences revoking of the operator’s license an issue that could lead to loss of incomes credibility.
